The Windows System Administrator II will be responsible for all aspects of the administration and support of over 350+ Servers in the Enterprise. This includes Active directory, VM, Citrix, SQL, SharePoint, Exchange and other critical systems for the health plans user population.


  • Performs administration tasks as needed to the Windows-based servers and VMWare hosts

  • Supports Active Directory, Exchange 2010/2013, IIS and VMWARE environments

  • Provides and maintains written and graphical server documentation for system recovery and support

  • Uses best practices to design, build, and manage secure server configurations.

  • Provides support for SolarWinds server monitoring

  • Maintains a detailed inventory of PC hardware

  • Ability to patch systems with SCCM

  • Builds and maintains corporate server gold images in a VM for physical state

  • Escalates problems to next level of support or vendor

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair/fixes for servers

  • Installs and configures networked servers, operating systems and application software

  • Works with network engineer to ensure reliable and efficient client/server application performance

  • Trains junior staff as requested by management

  • Works off hours to provide support for administrative tasks

  • Provide clear, helpful and considerate instructions to end-users

  • Provide routine hardware/software administrative services necessary to maintain optimal operation of systems

  • Ensures the backup and restoration of critical data

  • Configures hardware and software to meet operational requirements

Other duties may be assigned as needed


  • Minimum five plus (5+) years’ experience working with and proven ability to manage Microsoft Windows environments and applications.

  • Experience should include but not be limited to architecture, evaluation, recommendation, installation, and support for the following: Microsoft Active Directory administration is required.

  • The ability to demonstrate understanding of Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010, IIS, SMTP, Clustering, DNS, DHCP, Citrix, VMware ESXi, VMware VDI and System Backups and Recovery

  • Minimum of a four year college degree or equivilant work expereince.
